About

Spanish Trail Outfitters, LLC

Based in Tucson, Arizona our business was established more than 20 years ago. The business owner’s father started trail rides in the ‘70s. Since then, the owner’s family carries on the legacy of the horseback riding business.

History of Westward Look

Westward Look Wyndham Grand Resort & Spa is a historic hotel. This grew from a family home in 1912. William and Maria Watson bought the 172-acre homestead to turn into their dream home. They hired the architect Merritt Starkweather who helped them build an adobe-style home that was elegant.

It featured spacious quarters and Spanish-style courtyard with a view of the Santa Catalina Mountains and the Sonoran Desert. Decades later, it was discovered that the walls of the house were only concrete and steel disguised as adobe.

Many popular figures came and went. In the 1950s, the hotel was where Walt Disney filmed The Living Desert. Mrs. Nason offered to donate the coatimundi and prairie dogs left behind to the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. Haddon Sundblom, a Chicago artist, also frequented the hotel. He painted two of the Nason daughters serving Santa Claus a Coke.
